These tripod stools in solid hardwoods with wedged tenons were originally designed as affordable items for us to make around the holidays but quickly became a regular piece that we produce in the shop. They have been used as small side tables as well as stools. The legs are angled and gently flare as they reach the ground. We utilize one of the oldest methods of joinery in furniture making for these stools, the conical wedged tenon. Not only does a wedged conical tenon produce the most reliable joint for continued use, it also offers the opportunity to use a contrasting wood for the wedge as a beautiful detail. We always pick wood of exceptional character for the tops of our stools. These stools are built to last. They are available in a variety of domestic hardwoods and finished with a natural oil and wax.
