This standing mirror in walnut with bridle joints and wenge plug details was originally designed as part of a bedroom set to match our platform bed. The top corners of the mirror are constructed with the same bridle joints as the front of the bed. These joints are not only structurally exceptionally strong they are also visually pleasing by contrasting the endgrain against the face grain. The joint draws attention to the hand work involved in making the mirror. We bring additional attention to the front corners by securing the joint with a pin detail in the contrasting wood of Wenge (see detail photo). The mirror is 1/4” glass and set into the frame with wooden stops from the back. The ‘feet’ of the mirror are cut at angles so that it can rest gently and securely against a wall. There are also keyhole cuts on the back top corners so that it can be secured with hidden screws to the wall. The finish is a natural oil and wax.
